IPSS

IPSS was established to serve the distressed families of fishermen affected by alcoholism and drug abuse.Registered in 1986 the counseling services were begun at Vettuthura, Channankara P.O Thiruvanathapuram in the year 1987 with the opening of the Holy Spirit Hospital, the first de-addiction centre in the southern region of Kerala. Rev.Dr.Jose Puthenveed’s vision of bringing solace to the victims and families of alcoholics was actualized through the dedicated services of the co-founder member late Sr. Dr Mary Anne and many like-minded friends.

IPSS currently focuses on psychosocial services such as psychosocial awareness programs, counseling, training, treatment, community development, research activities and publications. IPSS is committed to carry forward the sublime task of serving the poor and the unfortunate and empowerl health care givers and the communities in their psychosocial and spiritual development.

State Resource Center (SRC)

State Resource Centre, Kerala is an autonomous body instituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under the management and supervision of General Education Department, Government of Kerala. SRC, Kerala started its functioning on 5th July 1978. As per the direction received from Government of India, SRC was separately registered under the chairmanship of Secretary, General Education Department, Government of Kerala. A Board of Management nominated of 15 members by the Government of Kerala, govern the functioning of SRC. The ultimate aim of the centre is to provide academic and technical resource support for comprehensive and sustainable non-formal, adult and lifelong education. Being an agency in the field of non-formal education dealing variety of clientele groups and programmes, establishment of SRCs were a landmark in the history of independent democratic India. SRC, Kerala is unique in nature by dealing wide range of beneficiaries such as illiterate to highly educated, poor to rich and marginalized to mainstream. SRC has been synchronizing educational components, technical skill and manpower for a better and sustainable human resource development.


LEGAL STATUS : MLCU IS RECOGNISED BY THE UGC

Martin Luther Christian University was created by Act No. 11 of 2005 of the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya and received the assent of the Governor on July 6, 2005. The Government of Meghalaya issued the gazette notification on February 22, 2006. The creation of the University is in accordance with the University' Grants Commission Act, 1956 under Section 2(1) and the University is empowered to grant degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act. MLCU is also permitted to give affiliation to colleges outside Meghalaya State (MLCU vs UGC 2012 Guwahati High Court (Division Bench)). Enlisted in UGC Website:Public notice on Private Universities). Several students and graduates of MLCU have been awarded JRF,NET and merit scholarships by the UGC.
